  its by a member of this forum goes by the name "toledo squad" .

  he said he sent it to the emails of 46 jws .. .

  On the way to the DC that morning I warned my wife that there was a talk about people like me. Even the. She refused to agree that I'm an apostate. I told her to think of the many thousands of people like me who simply in good conscience cannot be an active part of this religion. I told her about how to spot an ad hominem attack, and why it's a sign of a false argument from someone who has something to hide. Since then I haven't said a word about it... I'll let it brew a bit, then bring up some of these quotes to see her opinion.

  just one day perform some form of miracle in front of the entire earth in which he proves he exists???.

  wouldn't this be the most loving and sensible thing to do?

  for instance, this coming thursday god repeatedly strikes mount kilamanjaro to the point that it reads in hebrew, "god exists, i just did this.

  But that would take time away from kingdom interests, like starving the African children and giving their parents AIDS. How is he going to finish next year's super virus if he has to perform all these miracles?!

  What is the WT's definition of an Apostate...

  i don't mean the 'unruly men who cook up wicked reasoning and season their brew with poisonous lies that deceive minds' definition.... i mean - who are they actually referring to when they are doing these awful talks at the conventions about the mentally diseased apostates etc.. specifically - is an 'apostate' someone who was actually baptised (baptized for you american's ) ?

  or can someone who was simply raised in "the truth" but left and was never baptised be classified as this lying, deceiving, mentally diseased apostate also?

  or am i considered to be an apostate - even though i wasn't raised in the cult, never went to a meeting etc.

  Some say its anyone who leaves the WT, others say its anyone who actively works against the org. Many talks say active dubs can be apostates if they're critical of anything in the Borg.

  In a JW's mind, an apostate is a vile person. The very word activates an irrational fear of that person's cult persona. For instance, my wife refuses to acknowledge that I'm an apostate. She is still unable to put a real person to the title 'apostate.' In her mind, the word 'apostate' is linked with 'demonized.'

  The WT has built up such a phobia with talks such as the one we had at the DC this year. This is mind control at its finest. Their brains are inoculated from anything someone they see as an apostate says. They have no problem calling them names, treating them like dirt and saying they would kill them if they were allowed. What the WT has done is strikingly similar to what the nazis did to the Jews. If we are dehumanized no one will care what we have to say, and will consider us like animals. Like we're not real people.

  Perry: that's good, I'm glad for you.

  A few years ago my dad got one of those "magnetic bracelets" you can buy online. Two weeks later he is telling me about all of the benefits he gets from this wonderful bracelet! His shoulders and elbows aren't sore, he can lift more than normal and he had his season's best golf score yesterday.

  Of course most rational people know "magnetic therapy" is a scam, but his claims are real. Does that make them true? We know his bracelet is real, and we know that it isn't making a lick of difference to his health. We can prove this, and in turn we can disprove his claims.

  We do not know that god is real, and we also don't know what he would do if he were. Your claims are real, but they are not provable. You cannot prove god is real, and you cannot prove he has any effect on your life. To claim so would be circular.

  My dad's claims, though disprovable, are more valid than yours.

  SBF: wrong again. What is considered "truth" is different for different people. Not everyone is privy to all of the same facts and information, and not everyone observes said facts and information from the same or even a similar viewpoint. A truth that is "Truth" for everyone all the time would be an absolute truth, something I'm sure you would agree is impossible.

  When someone criticizes another's beliefs or acceptance of facts, it is not as much because they disagree with their own beliefs, as much as pointing out the inconsistencies of of someone's supposed "truth".

  I believe something to be true because at this point in my life, with the information that is available to me, this is the decision I have made on the matter. If in the future something changes, I will have to be willing to consider that as well or else become willfully ignorant. When I have become ignorant, my viewpoint and opinion on "truth" will no longer be of any value.

  Right now SBF we are criticizing your views because we see flaws in them, not because they oppose our own. To criticize you because you don't agree with me would be to give myself way too much credit. If you point out reasonable flaws in my reasoning, I am forced to reconsider my view.

  Fading fast children are starting to ask questions, need help.

  ok i have been fading fast, missed a lot of meetings over the past couple of months and the kids think its mostly do to my being busy with work.

  this morning was probably the first sunday that i was home and could go but did not.

  so my 8 year old asked me if i was going and why when i said no.

  The Bizarre Free Will

  two years before i left jw world i came to a strange conclusion about the jw cosmology and the free will doctrine.. basically i came to conclusion that satan is right about the universal sovereign issue.

  and i came with that just only using jws premises, no outside apostasy.

  i just told to my sister what she thought about it, and she said to me: dont tell anyone about this!.

  You might enjoy Free Will by Sam Harris. He makes some really interesting statements about the myth of free will.

  had another conversation with my wife this morning

  she was getting already for service so i asked her "how do you do it?

  " "how do you still go and do all this spiritual stuff now that you know that my research and letter to bethel shows that the jw religion denies us the messiah"?

  she got all defensive and disagreed again with what i wrote to bethel and then i had to step in and tell her that its "its them that teaches that we don't have a mediator in christ and were not under the new covenant".

  Crazyguy, you should know better than to challenge her directly. You only activate her cult personality and out her on her heels. Why put up a wall when you are trying to reach her? Of course it can be frustrating to be so patient. Remember all those creation debates we had a while back? Even when presented with irrefutable evidence, you were still unwilling to consider the fact that you were wrong. That is normal, that's how humans argue.

  Try casually asking her questions that will make her think and have more questions. Try to remember the way your brain would react when challenged on JW issues when you believed. You being wrong wouldn't make any difference to your believing that you were right.

  Dont tell me you haven't read any of Steve Hassan's books yet......?

  no mention of them being mentally diseased or using "lies" to deceive god's people, just that they are out to attract followers for themselves!.

  p.s.

  i was cringing at the thought of sitting for 3 1/2 hours for the afternoon session but fortunately my one kid got sick!!

  So far, despite my efforts nobody has started to follow me as their religious leader. It's a real bummer.

  We had our DC last weekend, it was the full on full strength hate speech. Made me sick. What changed this week?
